You need JavaScript enabled to view it Phone: 01932 220295 Fax: 01932 254627 ESHER have signed former Newcastle and Scotland Under-21 lock Stuart Walker.Director of Rugby Mike Schmid swooped after losing out on Fijian international Rupeni Nasiga due to visa problems.Walker, 24, was released by Premiership outfit Falcons after spending last season on loan at Tynedale.The capture of the 6ft 7in second rower is a huge boost for Esher as they build towards their second campaign at National One.He is the 13th player the Surrey club have signed this summer. Team manager Dave Page said: “We were delighted Stuart was still available after missing out on Nasiga.“He has been down at Blackheath since being released by Newcastle’s new coach Steve Bates.“But fortunately he had not signed a contract and so was keen to play for Esher because we could offer him a higher playing standard at National One.“He will be a great addition to the squad. He’s a good lineout jumper, a great athlete and can pack down either side.”Esher’s build-up towards the season was boosted by a training session from new England attack coach Brian Smith last week.The former London Irish chief spent the evening at the Pillar Data Arena working on skills with the whole squad.Page added: “It was great to have Brian down here and nice for the lads to have a different face doing the coaching.“He brought a different perspective to things and having different coaches helps break up the monotony.“He brings different ideas and it’s also good for out coaches to be able to learn from someone like Brian.“We hope to get different coaches down to the club on a regular basis in the future.”This week Harlequins Academy chief and former England No 8 Tony Diprose will be putting the players through their paces.
